SHE wouldn’t look out of place hanging 10 on a catwalk, but Alana Blanchard shows she is also more than a little handy on a surfboard.
The 18-year-old Hawaiian has been turning plenty of heads at Bells Beach during the week with her talent. She won her first major tournament at just 15, becoming the first female Pipeline Master.
Blanchard has shown repeatedly that the bigger the surf, the better she likes it. Blanchard heads a wave of teen invaders, which includes the likes of Australian junior world champion Sally Fitzgibbons, keen to mark on the world surfing scene and currently down in Victoria competing at Bells Beach.
