The Ministry of Tourism second Annual ‘16 Islands, 16 Weddings, One Priceless Day’ Promotion is expected to be a joyous and memorable occasion for visiting couples to The Bahamas. Tourism Director General Joy Jibrilu expressed delight at the return of the promotion, as it would showcase the unique cultural features and beauty of the participating 16-island destinations that include Acklins, Abaco, Andros, Crooked Island, The Berry Islands, Bimini, Cat Island, Eleuthera, Exuma, Harbour Island, Grand Bahama, Inagua, Long Island, Nassau, Paradise Island and San Salvador. “There are a plethora of products and diverse experiences throughout the 16-islands and in light of this, the Ministry of Tourism would launch for the second year its ‘16 Islands, 16 Weddings, One Priceless Day’ Promotional Campaign.

“Beginning January 16, 2015 at 1600 hours, 16 couples from the United States (America) will get married on 16 Islands of The Bahamas. “The campaign, launched earlier this year in the United States when couples were invited to enter a competition to have an all-expense paid wedding in The Bahamas.
“At the time, we were told a great outcome would be to have 400 people enter the competition however, the Ministry of Tourism is delighted to say that over 3,000 couples entered, which we had to narrow to 16 winning couples,” Jibrilu revealed. According to the director general, the popularity and quality of the promotion is well-known and regarded as the most innovative campaign launched by the Ministry of Tourism.

Hundreds are expected to benefit from the campaign that is Bahamian conceived and produced including hotels, bakeries, beauty salons, musicians, photographers, stylists, transportation service providers and many others.

“The Bahamas is in fact the only country in the region that could launch such an innovative campaign, that the Ministry of Tourism will launch the same in Canada next year. “The success of this campaign is evidenced by the fact that all our Canadian potential partners that include airlines, bridal stores, jewelers etcetera have approached us with a view to participating,” said Jibrilu.

With less than four weeks to go before the couples, which have already committed their hearts to each other say “I do”, the director general revealed excitement builds among all in the Ministry of Tourism.
Every sector of the ministry wishes the 16 couples the very best and looks forward to the bolstering of the country’s economy especially as beginning Christmas Eve and throughout 2015, a series of mega events and initiatives will be introduced to bring about a lovely future.
